For my college magazine I believe that the front cover was
the most successful part of designs, to be specific I think I did well on the
masthead and believe that the name for my magazine was quite clever, as well as
the catchy line/ slogan to go with it. I also believe that the art design of
the magazine, which was black and white shapes, went very well and fitted in
with the style of the magazine (rebellious/ edgy). I believe that the contents
page did not go as well and isn’t up to professional standards. The response
and feedback from my target audience has been relatively the same as my own
feedback, claiming that I should have done more to improve the contents page of
my college magazine. My magazine is appropriate for my target audience as it
has features within it that the public asked for in a college magazine, such as
exam tips and college help, music, gossip, fashion and sports. It also has free
features such as band posters and also has competitions.
During my development of my College Magazine, I have learnt
many new skills that I will require in the future, such as how to use photoshop
to edit photos and place other “layers” on top of them to help design a
successful image. I have also learnt about how to take successful photos for
magazines, and learnt about different angles and shot types when deciding on
how to take the picture. I also learnt about poses and how I can use them when
taking unique and interesting photos.
