i6- Target Audience Research


During my target audience research I have discovered many
things which will help me in creating my magazine. Firstly, the majority of my
audience are young males between the ages of 15 and 20. They also belong to
subcultral groups or are individuals.


Most of them listen to Metal however some listen to rock and
alternative/ indie music. Some of them also listed other genres they listen to,
like Dubstep and other various genres. Many of them already purchase magazines,
the most popular one being KERRANG! and Metal Hammer. However some do not buy
any music magazines. When asked if there were any gaps in the music magazine
industry, most put pop and rock, while others put none. Very little believed
there were gaps for metal and alternative music.


For most of my audience, they believed that in-depth
articles and lots of info were the best parts of music magazines, while others
believed the best parts of a music magazine were band merchandise
advertisements and giveaways. Most of my target audience prefer magazines to be
released once a month or once a week. Most people would pay the maximum of £3
when buying a music magazine, while others would pay at most £4. Lastly, all of
my target audience would be persuaded to buy a copy of a music magazine for
giveaways and competitions.


With this information I have gathered from my target
audience I will now set out to design and create a music magazine based around
music that my target audience would listen to.
