Evaluation Question 1

Many magazines, music and otherwise, use traditional “conventions”
when designing the magazine. They have to decide where the mast head should be
placed, how the picture should be taken such as angle and shot type, as well as
where the features and text should be listed, if and where there should be a
catchy slogan, ect. This can change dramatically depending on the target
audience and the subject matter, such as colours, layout of the text and
features, picture sizes, ect.

When designing my music magazine, I decided to base it
around metal and rock, and so I have chosen a conventional layout that will
relate to other music magazines of this genre. I have chosen a number of pictures
that have inspired my magazine.

10. House style (how all the above combine to create an overall theme, filling a
gap in the market and targeting a specific audience)

With all of these features in mind, I have created a house
style for those interested in fast paced metal and rock music, which fills a
gap for the publishers IPC, which have a gap in the market for people
interested in heavy metal.
